Everybody Wins! USA Begins New Chapter as Read to a Child

Everybody Wins! USA begins a new chapter today as Read to a Child, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing childrens success in life by inspiring adults to read to them. The organizations new identity more effectively communicates its mission and encompasses an expanded vision for the future.

The vision of Read to a Child is that one day all children will be read to regularly by a caring adult improving their chances to become healthy, productive members of society.

Reading aloud is a proven means of increasing childrens literacy skills and, therefore, empowering them for future success, said Board Chair Matthew Broder. Our organization truly inspires a better future and we are extremely excited to grow and expand opportunities for children as Read to a Child.

In addition to the name change, a number of previously independent Everybody Wins! offices have joined Read to a Child to create a centralized nonprofit entity. Read to a Child currently operates in Arizona, Boston, Connecticut, Detroit, Los Angeles, and South Florida.

Chief Executive Officer Olivia Mathews noted, Collectively, the new Read to a Child structure enables us to use every dollar in the most efficient way possible and ensure consistent high-quality programming. As this next phase begins, we look forward to dramatically increasing the number of children we reach.

The organization receives support from more than 100 corporate sponsors, such as Pitney Bowes, Equity Office Properties and New York Life. In the 2011-2012 school year, the organization mobilized over 1,400 volunteers to deliver 35,000 hours of one-on-one reading time to more than 1,100 children.

The organization launched a new website that incorporates the Read to a Child name. The site offers information about the organizations programming, results and new ways to get involved.
